Chapter 12: Halloween XVII – The Nightmare on Palm Street
Noah's day starts with an embarrassing birthday photograph.
After Ronan finally tells his friends about his schizophrenia, they go trick or treating.
Noah's costume attracts attention, so does his loss of costume.

Excerpt:
Tarzan, Clark Kent, a Ghostbuster, C3PO, Rocket and Groot went trick or treating.
It sounds like the start of a bad joke but it wasn’t. Noah was self-conscious – aware of how much skin he was showing in public on his own street. His feet were almost bare inside the sandals, his long and hairless legs were exposed, his groin covered with a loincloth and undies and he was topless. Noah’s bare back and thin chest were beautifully boyish, his nipples small and erect in the cool October air.
Ryan was across the road with his own friends and about to set off too – they waved and proceeded away from Noah’s house but they didn’t stop or approach the nearest houses. They agreed that exposing Noah to his neighbours in a gratuitous costume would have been unfair. Also, Noah had reservations about Ryan’s dad who seemed like a bit of an asshole.  
Since it was late October, the night was already dark and it was cold. Not freezing but mid-single digits. Cold enough to make Noah’s nipples hard and the breath of wind tickled his bare ankles, raced up his velvety legs and cooled the pouch of his underwear beneath the loincloth.
In spite of, or perhaps because of, the sandals, the briefs and the loincloth, Noah felt very exposed. They had walked away from Noah’s home and in the general direction of Dukeshead Secondary School. The real trick or treaters were on their way home - cute kids cute costumes who had been out before it got too dark. They held hand with parents or raced ahead of mum & dad while eating chocolate. Some of the parents gave Noah quizzical or critical or disapproving looks but the kids thought he was funny; besides no parent wanted to be the one who admonished another parent’s child.
Was that how Noah looked? Like a child?
His bare legs and hairless body had resulted in Noah unwittingly modelling clothes for 13-14-year-old boys. The group travelled together, trying to shield Noah when they could and each carrying a pumpkin shaped bucket with stickers declaring DUKESHEAD SECONDARY FOOD BANK.
On every doorstep, Noah got quizzical looks – most people thought he was just being a silly boy. As with the parents in the street, some the families that answered their doors offered critical looks. Then there were the ones who thought it was funny or cute. Noah was openly checked out on several occasions - the seventeen-year-old hairless Tarzan in a loincloth and briefs was considered very sexy by some.  
They were getting closer to the Dukeshead school and therefore the boys who attended it. At the next house, about an hour after the adventure had begun, a Flash answered the door.
“What the fuck, dude?” asked the older teen who had answered the door.
“Trick or treat?” Matty said.
Matty’s charm was not going to distract the lad.
“Looks like you’ve been tricked already,” the lad replied.
“We’re collecting for treat or treat,” said Ronan.
“Have you been walking around like that all night?” the lad asked – ignoring the others as he took in Noah’s skimpy outfit.
“No, not all night,” Toby defended.
“Yea. Just, like, an hour?” Amos added.
