A Series of Embarrassing Events - July Update
This is more of a technical update for those interested in how I develop my stories. There will be another update next week.
I’m currently editing chapter thirteen of A Series of Embarrassing Events (ASoEE) and there will be fourteen chapters before the end of the year. I had hoped to have completed more editing by now (which would bring me closer to starting yet another project). However, I invested a lot of time in writing and editing Anthology II and III to plug the gap between Do As You’re Told (my 2018-2019 project) and ASoEE (2020-2021).
Anthology Took up a few months of my time but, I hope, it was well worth it. Unfortunately, feedback has been limited which is disappointing.
Anyway.
Since January, I’ve treated you to A Prelude to Embarrassing Events and written two additional chapters of ASoEE that were not part of the original narrative. Editing alone has already added 26,000 words to the first twelve chapters (though one of those chapters is one of the brand-new additions). I confess, I am somewhat obsessive and perfectionist when it comes to writing and editing…
Side note, please don’t write to me about spelling errors in chapters that are already online (I don’t get to edit it once it’s up). When you write something with >300,000 words there are bound to be a few mistakes, let it go & give me a break. Thanks.
…but it creates a more polished final project.
Anthology and the delay to editing ASoEE in no way delayed the release of ASoEE. I always intended to start posting it in August/ September. I have finally settled on a premiere date: on or around September 04th. A chapter description and (another) excerpt for CH-01 will go online in August.
Hope you enjoyed this update. I’ve composed a teaser trailer for ASoEE which will appear online next week – six weeks before the first chapter.
Holy crap, an extra 26,000 words- how you like to spoil your audience! Will ASoEE be uploaded weekly similar to DAYT? looking forward to next week's update.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm always happy to get a comment or two on my updates.
DeleteASSoEE is more of a spiritual successor to School Exhibitionism. DAYT went down a darker road than the original plan intended. ASSoEE is more like what I intended DAYT to be; I prefer my characters to be complicit in their misadventures. Noah is a really fun character!
26K is a lot of extra content but editing on DAYT added 65K words – hence why editing is such hard work. Yes, updates will be weekly. There might be a one-week break sometime during the first 14 chapters but I’m undecided.
ASoEE keeps more or less 100% focus on him rather than dividing attention between multiple characters. It actually caused a few hiccoughs when I needed to tell parts of the story that Noah was not directly involved, in but it's all good.
