Night of the Giving Head (CH01-03 easter eggs)
All the main characters are named for characters, actors or crew involved in Night of the Living Dead.
Chapter I
The grave (Hinzman) was named for the actor who played the first ghoul in Night of the Living Dead.
Swanson Cemetery is named for Richard Matheson's penname, Logan Swanson.
Russell & Karl are named for the producers of Night of the Living Dead.
The hill had eyes that watched as Karl... The Hills Have Eyes is a horror movie.
Matheson county is named after the author of I Am Legend, the primary inspiration for Night of the Living Dead.
Kirkman county is named after the creator of The Walking Dead.
Mr Aja, who catches Russell and Karl in the cemetery, is named for Alexandre Aja who wrote and directed The Hills Have Eyes.
The grave where Karl's underwear lands is marked Levasseur, which is named for Grégory Levasseur who co-wrote The Hills Have Eyes.
The White House calls the infected GHOULS; in Night of the Living Dead, the zombies are defined as ghouls.
The Wicker Man's Rest is named for the horror movie, The Wicker Man.
Johnny references Children of the Corn and the Blair Witch Project.
The gay club is called Tom's Raver; Toms River was the filming location for the 1979 film The Amityville Horror.
Ben chose to run through "Texas Chainsaw territory," areferance to movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Chill gets major "Get Out vibes," a reference to the psychological horror movie Get Out.
Chapter II
Flatliners is the title of a 1990 psychological horror movie and an inferior 2017 sequel/ remake.
Ben uses the SUV out of spite to stop Kiefer having it; Kiefer Sutherland stars in Flatliners.
Ben travelled on PA Route 109 - Ackley Route is fictional. The Ackley mountains are a fictional range in Resident Evil franchise.
Ben speculates of Bill getting knocked down by a Plymouth Fury; Steven King's Christine, about a possessed and anthropomorphic car, is a 1958 Plymouth Fury.
Ben speculates of Bill getting lost in a pet cemetery; Pet Cemetery is a horror movie.
Ben thinks the Wicker Man's Rest looks like a scary cabin in the woods; Cabin in the Woods is a 2011 sci-fi horror film directed by Drew Goddard.
Tom and Ridley listen to a true crime podcast called Only Murders in the Wording, a punny play on Only Murders in the Building.
Chapter III
Harry says "The call is coming from inside the house!" a line popularised by the film When A Stranger Calls.
Corey Coon plugs Romero Vison Glasses, which are named for the legendary director George A. Romero.
Romero Vison Glasses cost $24 for the frames and $1940 for the lenses; George A. Romero was born on 2/4/1940 (using the USA dating convention).
Corey Coon also plugs the new Carpenter Decoder App for "if you don’t believe The Thing the experts tell you;" this is a reference to The Thing (1982) directed by John Carpenter.
The Carpenter Decoder App has in app purchases starting at $19.38; the novella (Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell Jnr) on which The Thing was based was published in 1938.
Billy states Johnny's surname is Streiner; Russell Streiner plays Johnny (uncredited) in Night of the Living Dead.
