All the main characters are named for characters, actors or crew involved in Night of the Living Dead. Chapter Four Studio reporters Judith and Kyra are named for Judith O'Dea and Kyra Schon; actors who starred in Night of the Living Dead. Mr Clelland is named for Sheriff McClelland, a character in Night of the Living Dead. News reporter Marvin East is a homage to Marilyn Eastman who played Helen in Night of the Living Dead. Professor Dwane Jones is a homage to Duane Jones who played Ben in Night of the Living Dead. George chants "one of us, one of us," in reference to the 1932 film Freaks. The chant is used by a group of sideshow performers (considered "freaks" by outsiders) welcome a new member into their fold. SIX Power to the cabin, which motivates a speedy response that ends in disaster. The basement becomes a trap, and the site of an orgy, while the chances of escape narrow. Can anyone escape without being infected? SEVEN A tragic survivor trope is realised. 

FIVE Ben seeks refuge and when Tom takes charge, he quizzes Ben about his escape. Tom and Jude find themselves in a difficult situation. George, Chilli and Johnny check on Harry & Bill and liberate them from the dildo. Ridiculous theories about the phenomenon leads to debate and a plan to escape. An attempt to reach the SUV does not go to plan.

FOUR Billy embarrasses himself with sexual overtures towards the others. The uninfected (Ridley, Johnny, Tom, Cooper, Ky, Harry, Jude and Ben) watch the news and make a plan. When another in the group is infected, they enjoy the company of George, Chilli and Billy. The group make plans to escape and Ben makes a shocking discovery about himself.

Matheson county is named after the author of I Am Legend, the primary inspiration for Night of the Living Dead. Kirkman county is named after the creator of The Walking Dead. Mr Aja, who catches Russell and Karl in the cemetery, is named for  Alexandre Aja who wrote and directed The Hills Have Eyes.  The grave where Karl's underwear lands is marked Levasseur, which is named for Grégory Levasseur who co-wrote The Hills Have Eyes. THREE The boys divide into teams to secure George and Chilli, check the house is safe, and to learn more about the GHOULS. Ridley and Billy take a risk, an unlikely pair take time out for a tryst, and the online explanations for the phenomenon leads to friction.  

TWO Ben runs into trouble on his way to the Wicker Man’s Rest. Harry, Cooper and Ky struggle to get out of town as the problem spreads. Tom and Ridley arrive at the lodge with George and Chilli. An emergency alert warning people to stay in doors and rumours of a gay epidemic in Matheson, Pennsylvania.  

NIGHT OF THE GIVING HEAD Eleven fraternity brothers make their way to a lodge called the Wicker Man's Rest, with three of their number being embarrassingly hazed. However, something more sinister is afoot as men find themselves overtaken by uncontrollable urges for each other. ONE Jude and Johnny pick up Billy, one of their pledges, on the way to the Wicked Man's Rest. Poor Billy is dressed in only a jock, but he's clearly overdressed. Meanwhile, George and Chilli, the other pledges of Sigma Epsilon Chi who are similarly dressed in only jocks, walk into the town of Legend and they aren't even the most scandalous thing to happen.
